BANGOR – The Bangor Lumberjacks completed a trade with the Joliet (Ill.) Jackhammers of the Northern League and obtained righthander Oscar Montero.

Montero, a closer who was 2-4 with nine saves and a 3.36 ERA in 45 appearances last year, comes to Bangor in exchange for outfielder Barry Paulk, who hit .305 with a home run and 10 RBIs in 26 games for Bangor last season.

A native of Venezuela, Montero struck out 41 batters in 57 innings last year.

Bangor opens its Northeast League season at home June 3.
