Radio stations talking up pasta donations

BANGOR – Spaghetti, rotini, rigatoni, macaroni – there’s room for it all on the radio.

On Saturday, Jan. 10, Cumulus Broadcasting will team up with four Hannaford Supermarkets to raise a ton of pasta to help replenish local food cupboards.

Live radio broadcasts will be held 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at each of the stores to encourage listeners to help with the project.

The supermarkets and the corresponding supermarkets are:

. At Hannaford in Brewer, WQCB Q106.5, Country.

. At Hannaford in Ellsworth, WEZQ 92.9, Lite Rock.

. At Hannaford on Broadway, Bangor, WWMJ Magic 95.7, Magic Music.

. At Hannaford in Old Town, WBZN Z107.3, CHR.

A one-pound box of pasta will feed a family of four, Cumulus officials explained. They are encouraging listeners to stop by and donate boxes of pasta, and also sauce – in plastic bottles, preferably.

After the holidays, many food cupboards report running low on supplies. Radio officials said they didn’t want Mainers to face the decision whether to buy food or fuel, so they want to do their part to raise food.
