AUGUSTA – The Maine Coalition for Peace and Justice, a new statewide network of more than 30 organizations, will hold its next meeting Saturday, Jan. 10, at the Lithgow Library.
The coalition’s mission is to “work collectively and nonviolently for social equity, economic justice, direct democracy and regenerative environmental policies.”
At the December meeting, a group was formed to support a pro-civil liberties resolution to be introduced in the Maine Legislature. The resolution is backed by Rep. Deb Hutton, D-Bowdoinham.
The topic for the next meeting is voting and the issues that surround it. The meeting is open to all Maine residents. For information, call 722-3742, e-mail info@mepj.org, or go online to www.mepj.org.
