PORTLAND – The Portland Sea Dogs, Double-A affiliate to the Boston Red Sox, have set their coaching staff for the 2004 season. Ron Johnson is returning as the Sea Dogs’ manager. Pitching coach Bob Kipper is also returning and Russ Morman will replace Mark Budaska as the hitting coach. Budaska moves up to Triple-A Pawtucket.
Johnson, 47, returns for the second straight year as manager of the Sea Dogs, his 13th as a minor league manager, and fifth in the Red Sox organization. He guided Portland to a third place finish with a 72-70 record last season.
