ELLSWORTH – Two vehicles were demolished Wednesday morning when they collided on Route 1A, but the drivers had only minor injuries, according to police.

Theodore Cake, 24, of Bar Harbor, was driving a 1987 Ford van at about 8:45 a.m. when he pulled out of a business driveway onto State Street into the path of a 1992 Acura driven by Cody Sachi, 16, of Franklin, Ellsworth police Officer Rick Roberts said Wednesday.

Cake did not see Sachi’s northbound car, which struck the van in the driver’s side, Roberts said.

Cake and Sachi each were taken by ambulance to Maine Coast Memorial Hospital in Ellsworth, where they were treated for minor injuries and then released, Roberts said.

Each driver was wearing a seat belt, and no charges are expected to be filed, he said.
