BANGOR – Members of the Harley the Plumber team won the second annual David A. Bower Memorial Cup when they defeated the Elco Electric team in a Little League game played at Bangor East’s Taylor Field last summer.
The David Bower Cup is presented each year to the winner of Bangor East Little League’s post-season tournament. The award is named in honor of David Bower, who dedicated nearly 20 years of his life as a coach, administrator and league president for Bangor East. Bower’s wife, Carolyn, threw out the first pitch and presented the trophy to this year’s champions.
Bangor East Little League is seeking photos and other memorabilia from former players, coaches and umpires. Photos will be copied and returned. The items will be displayed on the Memorial Wall and in the trophy case at the Bangor East clubhouse.
Bangor East alumni are invited to visit the recently refurbished Taylor Field any time during the baseball season. Bangor East has been selected to host the State 11-12 All-Star Tournament this year. To learn more, call Jason Lewis at 942-7301, or Bill Masters at 947-8055.
