Public speaking skills

Chris Greeley, owner of Chris Greeley Training and Consulting, has recorded an audio tape, “Public Speaking and Presentation Skills.

The tape, designed to help those looking to improve skills and overcome the fear of public speaking, also augments Greeley’s on-location training and presentations. He has given more than 300 programs in and outside the United States.

Maine Savings Federal Credit Union

Anthony Emerson joined the staff at Maine Savings Federal Credit Union in August as vice president of finance, accounting and operations. He is certified as a purchasing manager and a purchasing professional.

Most recently Emerson completed, with honors, the academic requirements to become a certified credit union executive. He has worked in financial management for the last six years, and has more than 12 years experience in contracts and procurement management. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Husson College and a master’s degree from the University of Maine.

Beginning Jan. 26, Col. Robert Carmichael will hold the position of vice president of human resources and training at Maine Savings Federal Credit Union. Currently, Carmichael is the chief of staff for the Maine Army National Guard, in charge of all Guard personnel in Maine.

Carmichael has served in many command and staff capacities. He has extensive training in team building, strategic planning and facilitation. As an adjunct professor at Thomas College in Waterville, he has experience in organizational development, total quality management and human resource management.

He has a bachelor’s degree in education and a master’s in business administration. He recently graduated from the U.S. Army War College and received a second master’s degree in strategic studies.

Carmichael began his military career as a helicopter pilot, and saw combat action during the Grenada invasion in 1983.

Mike Cust has been promoted to senior vice president at Maine Savings Federal Credit Union, effective Dec. 5. Cust began his association with the credit union on a supervisory committee in 1988. In 1989 he became a member of the board of directors, where he served until 1994 when he joined the staff as branch manager. That year, he was appointed chairman of the building committee to plan construction of the credit union’s corporate facility in Hampden.

In 1995, Cust was promoted to senior staff and his duties expanded to include branch administration, facility management and strategic planning.

Cust’s credit union history dates to the late 1960s when he was one of the original officers of a newly formed credit union in Washington. He and his family have operated businesses in Washington, Bar Harbor and Hampden.
