Wiggin, Hall lead Hermon to 10th victory

MOUNT DESERT – Shannon Wiggin notched 16 points and Malerie Hall added 14 as their Hermon Hawks downed host Mount Desert Island 64-43 in a schoolgirl basketball clash Wednesday night.

Cassie White contributed 12 points and Marissa McLeod scored 10 more for Hermon.

Kelsey Stratton scored 11 points and Amanda Young 10 for the Trojans.

Carter, sidelined for much of the second half with four trouble, scored seven of his game-high 17 points in the fourth quarter.

Bryant Ciomei and Thomas Robbins each scored 10 points for Deer Isle-Stonington, while Lance Ciomei and Josh Eaton added nine points apiece.

At Brewer, the Winslow Black Raiders jumped out to a 3-1 first-period lead and held on for the win.

Josh Poulin, Matt Bickford and Dan Bickford each had a goal and an assist for the 5-4 Black Raiders. Jason Ellis and Ryan Cosgrove also scored for Winslow, while Kevin McCabe had two assists and Nathan Pelletier added one assist.

Mike Brown paced 5-5 Hampden Academy with two goals and an assist. Kyle Weiland added a goal and two assists, while Steve Boutin contributed a goal, Chris Pease had three assists and Chris Standley and Jason Huntley had one assist each.

Winslow goalie Devon Grenier made 25 saves on 29 shots, while Hampden’s Rory Woods made 27 saves on 32 shots.
