PORTLAND – The “Bachelorette” and the Sea Dog won’t be walking down the aisle anytime soon.
Former Sea Dog baseball player Justin Sherrod was cut from the lineup on ABC’s newest season of “The Bachelorette.”
Sherrod, a Red Sox outfield prospect who will play for the Triple A Pawtucket team next season, wasn’t chosen by bachelorette Meredith Phillips in the reality show’s season premiere Wednesday night.
The show pits 25 men against each other for Phillips’ attention.
For its second season, the show’s producers added sports professionals to the mix. Among them were Sherrod, a hockey player and football player.
In Wednesday’s episode, Phillips narrowed the field of men from 25 to 15.
Sherrod, 25, said he tried out for the show because it “sounded pretty cool.” He’s sworn to secrecy as to the show’s outcome.
Portland fans saw plenty of Sherrod last season. He played 127 games and led the team with 74 runs batted in.
