MINOT – A 19-year-old woman was killed Saturday when a log cabin in which she lived burned down, authorities said.

The body of Danielle Damon was found in the rubble of the cabin where she lived with her boyfriend, James Lecomte, spokesman Stephen McCausland of the Maine Public Safety Department said Sunday. The couple had lived there for four months.

After the fire broke out at about 3 p.m. Saturday, Lecomte, 21, arrived and said his girlfriend was missing, McCausland said. Damon had worked the previous night and apparently was asleep when the fire broke out.

McCausland said three state fire investigators were unable to determine the cause of the blaze.

The furnace in the cabin had broken down on Friday and the couple had been using a wood-burning stove for heat, the spokesman said.
