FORT KENT – Social worker Julia Schnee has joined Northern Maine Medical Center’s social services department. Schnee’s primary responsibilities are to provide social services for children, adolescents and adults who have been admitted to the inpatient psychiatric units.

A graduate student in the University of New England’s Master of Social Work Program, Schnee received a bachelor of science degree with a major in rehabilitation services and a minor in psychiatry at the Steven F. Austin State University, Nacogdoches, Texas.

Before accepting the position at NMMC, Schnee worked at Aroostook Mental Health Center as a family support specialist. While living in Texas, she worked with at-risk teens and adolescents at a therapeutic wilderness camp.
