TOWNSHIP 24 – A Baring woman was killed Wednesday morning when a tractor-trailer rolled over, dumping its load of logs on her car.

Sgt. Donnie Smith, of the Washington County Sheriff’s Department, said that Ann Olsson, 62, was driving east in a slow vehicle lane on Route 9 in Township 24 when an oncoming tractor-trailer veered over the centerline.

Smith said the truck driver, Wayne Harmon, 46, of Jonesboro, overcorrected and ended up rolling his truck. Its cargo of logs fell on Olsson’s small car. Olsson was taken by LifeFlight helicopter to Eastern Maine Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

Harmon was uninjured, Smith said. The accident is under investigation.
