ORONO – Tristan Desmet scored a second-period goal, then added an empty-net tally with 19 seconds remaining in the game to lead Maine by Connecticut 2-0 in women’s hockey action Friday night at Alfond Arena.
Meagan Aarts, Emily Stevens, Karen Droog and Cheryl White all helped with assists for UMaine (8-9-3 overall, 5-3-1 Hockey East). Lara Smart saved all 30 shots she faced.
For UConn (6-12-3, 2-4-1 HE), Shannon Murphy made 26 saves on 27 shots. The Huskies went 0-for-7 on the power play.
