ASPEN, Colo. – Seth Wescott of Farmington, a Carrabassett Valley Academy graduate, took the silver medal Monday in the Snowboard X event at the Winter X Games.
Ueli Kestenholz, of Thun, Sweden, repeated as Snowboarder X champion, but he held off Wescott by only a little more than a second.
Wescott is the 2003 FIS World Championship silver medalist, a six-time X Games medalist, and competes on the FIS World Cup Snowboarding circuit. In addition to snowboard cross, which was recently designated an official Olympic sport for the 2006 games, Wescott competes in halfpipe. He is the top-ranked American in the sport of snowboard cross.
