DEXTER – A mobile home on Route 7 was demolished by fire Wednesday afternoon.

The mobile home owner, Phil Chabot, had been trying to thaw a pipe underneath the building with a space heater when materials caught fire, according to Dexter Fire Chief Melvin Wyman.

Wyman said Chabot had a tenant living in the mobile home, but the unidentified woman was not home at the time of the fire.

The fire chief believed Chabot had insurance on the building.

Sangerville, Corinna and Garland firefighters assisted Dexter firefighters at the scene.
