LANTANA, Fla. – Two people died when a twin-engine plane crashed into the front yard of a home near Palm Beach County Park Airport.
The pilot was identified by his daughter-in-law as 79-year-old Donald Dubois. The passenger was Amy Stevens, 44, she said.
The plane took off from the Lantana airport and was headed for Everglades City on Jan. 22, but turned back and tried to return. Dubois did not declare an emergency, but radioed airport officials to say he was making a “single-engine” landing, a National Transportation Safety Board official said.
Nobody on the ground was hurt.
Dubois and his wife Carol spent winters in Delray Beach and summers in Bar Harbor, Maine, said his daughter-in-law Edith Dubois.
