Brewer police arrested a Bangor woman after she allegedly drove through a roadblock Thursday night.

Officer Rodney Gerald reported that at about 9:45 p.m. he, Cpl. David Lord and Officer Nelson Feero were blocking the Brewer side of the Joshua Chamberlain Bridge with their cruisers while Bangor Fire Department put out a fire on the roof of the Waterfront Bar and Grill.

Gerald said the three cruisers had their blue lights flashing. Nevertheless, a car threaded its way through the roadblock and tried to cross the bridge. Gerald stopped the car and arrested the driver, Sarah Marshman, 23, of Bangor, after learning that her license had been suspended for almost a year.

Veazie police arrested a teenager after he allegedly refused to leave his mother’s house Thursday night.

Officer T.J. Warner said that at about 11:30 p.m. he and Officer Jeremy Upham went to a Thompson Road apartment, where a woman let them in and said her son had been stealing drugs from her, and that she wanted him out.

The 17-year-old boy was in a bedroom, Warner said. He refused to come out when Warner asked him, and eventually said, “If you want me out of the room you’re gonna have to drag me out.”

Warner said Cpl. John Dall arrived and tried to reason with the boy, without success. The boy kicked an ottoman at Dall, Warner said. Warner grabbed the boy’s arm and the officers put him on a bed.

Warner said the boy managed to work his way onto the floor, into a 3-foot-wide space between two beds. He then started punching the officers, Warner said. Officer Upham sprayed the boy with pepper spray, with little effect. When the boy became more belligerent, Warner sprayed him again and they were able to handcuff him.

Warner said he was spat on, kicked and headbutted during the encounter.

The boy will be charged with five counts of assault on an officer, refusal to submit to detention and arrest, and disorderly conduct. Warner said the boy’s probation officer also authorized a probation hold.

Two Bangor men were arrested Friday for attempting to steal food from the Bells IGA in Orono.

Police say Justin Clark, 21, and Keith Paquette, 18, were seen hiding food under their clothing at around 12:30 p.m. The men attempted to leave but store employees held the men at the store until police were able to arrive.

Clark originally told Officers Casey Miller and Lee Miller of the Orono Police Department that his name was Joshua Clark, but later admitted that his name was Justin. Clark was charged with unsworn falsification and with violation of bail, stemming from an arrest in October when he was caught on videotape stealing cigarettes and shoving a female clerk at Cigaret Shopper in Bangor.

Both Clark and Paquette were charged with theft and were transported to Penobscot County Jail in Bangor.
