Bangor police arrested a man after he allegedly pushed his girlfriend out of his room Tuesday morning.

Officer Jason Stuart reported that at about 11 a.m. he went to a Union Street apartment where he met with a woman who said her boyfriend, Jason Nason, 24, of Bangor, pushed and pulled her out of his room. Stuart said he saw red marks and scratches on the woman’s arm, which she said were caused by Nason.

The woman said Nason locked the door to the room once she was out. She said she didn’t think Nason was still in the building. Stuart knocked on the locked door, but there was no response.

At about 1 p.m. Nason came to the police station after receiving a phone call from dispatch. Nason said he and his girlfriend were arguing, and that he only started pushing her after she dumped cat litter on his head. Stuart said Nason admitted that he tried to push her out of the room, but when she resisted he simply picked her up and carried her out.

Nason said he then locked the door and climbed out the window.

Stuart noted that Nason’s window is at least 12 feet above a roof, which is another 10 feet from the ground. Stuart said he believed Nason did not climb out the window until police showed up.

Stuart arrested Nason and charged him with domestic assault.

Bangor police arrested a Hermon man with a malfunctioning license plate light Monday evening.

Officer Wade Betters reported that at about 5:30 p.m. he was on Hildreth Street, slowing as he approached the intersection with Outer Hammond Street, when he noticed a white car ahead of him with a plate light out.

Betters said he pulled the car over after it made a left turn on to Outer Hammond Street. As Betters communicated with dispatch, he said, the driver of the white car slowly opened the door and began walking slowly and unsteadily in Betters’ direction. Betters got out of his cruiser.

The man’s speech was slurred, Betters said, and when Betters told the man why he stopped him, the man stared blankly back at him. Betters said he could smell alcohol on the man’s breath. The driver, identified as Edward McBeth, 62, of Hermon, admitted having “a couple” of drinks, but explained that he was just going up the road.

Betters said McBeth was “without a doubt visibly intoxicated.” After administering sobriety tests, Betters arrested McBeth and took him to the station, where he was summoned for operating under the influence. Betters then arranged a taxi ride for McBeth.
