Davis, Cook help Shead cruise past Machias for 13th

MACHIAS – The Shead Tigerettes outscored Machias 21-7 in the third quarter en route to a 50-35 schoolgirl basketball victory Wednesday night.

Samantha Davis led the visitors from Eastport with 17 points while Taunya Cook chipped in with nine, all in the third quarter.

Christiannah Holmes notched 16 points and 18 rebounds for Machias and Katie Stevens added eight.

At the T.J. Ryan Center in Brewer, Kevin Brooks scored two goals in the third period and Kyle Weiland scored twice as the Broncos rolled.

Dan Mangano and Paul Morrison added a goal apiece for 9-8 Hampden. Weiland also had an assist while Jason Huntley and Matt Soucy had two each. Rory Woods had 26 saves on 28 shots.

Ben Sirois scored both goals for the 7-7 Wildcats. Sam Shaw notched two assists. Sean Daigle stopped 26 out of 32 shots.

Boys basketball

Buckfield 79, Greenville 70

At Greenville, Harry Hayes poured in 25 points to carry the Bucks by the Lakers.

Jamie Henderson tossed in 17 points and Scott Wetherell 12 for the winners.

Jordan Belmont paced Greenville with 20 points while brother Kyle added 15. Jonah Lizotte scored 12 and David Aucoin 10.
