SAHS rallies past Limestone in 4th

LIMESTONE – The unbeaten Southern Aroostook Warriors outscored Limestone 12-3 in the fourth quarter to avoid the upset and post a 42-40 schoolgirl basketball win Wednesday night.

The Warriors nailed two free throws with three seconds left to take the win.

Shannon Martin paced the Warriors of Dyer Brook with 14 points and Audrey Charette added 10.

Nicki Michaud led the Eagles with 13 points and Haley Redman put in 12.

At Fort Fairfield, Dani Searles scored 16 points to break the all-time school scoring record of 922 points previously held by Dallas Nightingale, notching her 923rd point in the Tigers’ victory.

Whitney Langworthy added 11 for Fort Fairfield.

Amanda Long led the Panthers of Mars Hill with 10.

Kyle Rideout scored 22 points for the Wildcats, Chris Carlin added 13 and Matt Fowler put in 12 points and had nine rebounds.

Brad Campbell paced the Vikings with 21 points and Joey Pelletier added 13.

At the T.J. Ryan Center in Brewer, Kevin Brooks scored two goals in the third period and Kyle Weiland scored twice as the Broncos rolled.

Dan Mangano and Paul Morrison added a goal apiece for 9-8 Hampden. Weiland also had an assist while Jason Huntley and Matt Soucy had two each. Rory Woods had 26 saves on 28 shots.

Ben Sirois scored both goals for the 7-7 Wildcats. Sam Shaw notched two assists. Sean Daigle stopped 26 out of 32 shots.
