FAIRFIELD – Darkness is descending on Maine.
So says the six-minute preview of an independent horror film written, produced and directed by Mike Huard, a self-taught filmmaker with a passion for cult cinema.
The film, “Mother Made Me,” which features actors from four New England states, was shot in 20 days on a very slim budget, Huard said.
He hopes to debut the movie this summer at horror film festivals.
Huard, 28, a lifelong horror-film buff, said “Mother Made Me” is a “sexy scary” movie in the genre of “Halloween” and “Friday the 13th.”
The story focuses on children raised in Maine by their lonely Asian stepmother, who harbors an obsession for racy, frilly clothing – a fetish she forces on her stepchildren.
And when the children don’t oblige, they pay, Huard said.
