A Bangor man faces Class C felony drug charges after he allegedly changed his prescription for a higher dosage, Bangor police Officer William Lawrence reported.
Lawrence responded Sunday morning to a fraud complaint from Brooks Pharmacy on Union Street. The officer spoke to the pharmacist at Brooks, who said Seth Leighton, 23, came in with a prescription for Xanax, an anti-anxiety medication
The pharmacist told Lawrence that the prescription had been changed from 1-milligram doses to 2-milligram doses and showed the officer the original prescription from Leighton’s doctor. The pharmacist even called the doctor to confirm the dosage at 1 milligram.
Lawrence stayed at the pharmacy until 11:15 a.m. when Leighton arrived to pick up his prescription. Lawrence asked him about the change, which Leighton denied making. He told Lawrence that the prescription hadn’t left his pocket until he came to Brooks that morning.
Lawrence issued Leighton a summons for acquiring drugs by deception.

A Bangor man was arrested for criminal mischief Saturday night after he was admitted to the emergency room at Eastern Maine Medical Center.
Officer Erik Tall was working detail at EMMC and went to the emergency room because a patient, Leroy Dunn, 22, was “acting up,” Tall’s report said.
Tall said Dunn was yelling, banging on the walls and doors and threatening to leave the hospital. Tall observed the patient ripping hospital clothing, and Dunn began to bang his hospital bed against the wall, causing damage.
Tall warned Dunn to stop, and the man replied “Why, are you going to give me a ticket? Ticket doesn’t mean nothing to me,” according to Tall’s report.
The charge nurse at EMMC requested that charges be pressed against Dunn for damaging hospital property. After Dunn was medically cleared, he was placed under arrest and taken to Penobscot County Jail.
