Hampden girls get by Dragons for win No. 13 Broncos’ Ghiringhelli has 16

HAMPDEN – Johanna Ghiringhelli scored 16 points to help push the Hampden Academy girls to a 53-47 basketball win over Brunswick Saturday.

Tanna Ross netted 11 points for the Broncos.

Danyel Cousins scored 17 points for Brunswick and Kate Ross added 11.

At Alfond Arena, Derek Smith netted two goals, including the game-winner in overtime off a pass from John Tuell, as the Riots improved to 13-3.

Tony Raymond added two more goals and Tuell finished with a goal and three assists for Orono. Travis Couture and Dylan Huckestein had a goal each, and Keith Hedrick had 22 saves on 28 shots.

Mitch Hall tallied three goals and Kevin Carton two for the 10-6 Blackhawks. Grady Anderson added one goal. Nick Joslyn stopped 49 of 56 shots.

At Sukee Arena in Winslow, Matt Grimes tallied three goals to lead the Witches past the Bulldogs.

Ben Caldwell and Eamon Harding notched two goals apiece for 5-12 Brewer while Ted Kotredes added one goal. Aaron Saunders made 17 saves on 21 shots.

Brothers Tom and Mike Hersom had a goal each for 0-16 Lawrence. Alex Miller and Josh Mitchell also scored while Allie Woods stopped 36 of 44 shots.

At Sukee Arena in Winslow, Mike McPike and Ben Estabrook each scored a goal for the Rams in the win.

Brandon Prescott dished out two assists for 12-5 Bangor and Aaron Buzzell had 15 saves on 16 shots.

Justin Lawler scored an unassisted goal for the 9-5 Eagles of Oakland. Ben Conti stopped 32 of 34 shots.

At Kennebec Ice Arena, Augusta, Mike Caper and Dino Grimaldi each scored a goal to help lead Gardner to the win.

Travis McGuire and Mike Trimm both had an assist for 11-5 Gardner and Spencer Lahaye stopped 30 of 31 shots.

Kevin Brooks scored on assists from Steve Boutin and Ian Lee for 9-9 Hampden Academy. Rory Woods made 13 saves on 15 shots.
