Youth bowling

BANGOR – The Bangor Parks and Recreation Department and Family Fun Lanes on Hildreth Street in Bangor are co-sponsoring Spring Bowling sessions 4-5 p.m. beginning Wednesday, March 3, and ending April 21.

Children in kindergarten to fifth grade may register at the recreation department office between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday.

The fee for bowling program is $15, $20 for others. To learn more about the program, call 947-1018.

Caribou Bog race

BANGOR – The Great Caribou Bog Wicked Winter Ski Tour and Race will dash off down the trail at 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 29, at Essex Woods, 703 Outer Essex St. Registration is at 11 a.m. The children’s ski tour is at 1:30 p.m. The rain date is March 7. Proceeds from the race will benefit the Shaw House.

The 17-kilometer race starts and finishes in Bangor. There is a new, easy 9K BogLoppet Short Tour. The children’s tour is free, but a parent must accompany the child.

Epic Sports of Bangor and the Penobscot Valley Ski Club are sponsoring the race. To learn more about the race, call 941-5670, or 825-3230.

Little Reckees

BANGOR – Bangor Parks and Recreation is starting a new session of Little Reckees. The program is for 3- or 4-year-olds.

It is not a drop-off program and parents are asked to stay with their children. Little Reckees is designed to teach participants about the fun of team sports.

Children will learn the basic skills associated with each sport in a way that is fun and safe. The four-week program is held from 4 to 5 p.m. Thursdays at the Parks and Recreation Center, 640 Main St. The cost is $20 for Bangor residents, $25 for others.
