CARIBOU – Two Presque Isle area men were sentenced to jail and prison terms recently in Aroostook County Superior Court for separate charges involving sexual assaults.
A third man was found not guilty of gross sexual assault but was sentenced for other charges.
Kevin R. Cray, 36, of Presque Isle will serve 15 years in prison after being found guilty of four counts of sexual assault.
Cray was sentenced to 25 years in prison with all but 15 years suspended. Once he is released, he will be on probation for six more years.
According to Assistant District Attorney Carrie Linthicum, the four charges against Cray involved four children, all under age 14.
She said Cray also had a prior record involving sexual assault of a minor. The recent charges involved incidents that occurred between 1998 and 2002.
The cases against Cray were investigated by the Presque Isle Police Department.
John Little Sr., 59, of Easton was sentenced to five years in prison, with all but 15 days suspended for one count of unlawful sexual contact. He will receive five years probation after being released.
Linthicum said the charge against Little involved one minor under age 14. The assault involved more than one instance, she said, all within a short period of time.
The incident with which Little was charged occurred on Sept. 1, 2002, in Easton. The incident was investigated by the Maine State Police.
Donny L. Taylor, 26, of Westfield and Presque Isle was found not guilty of gross sexual assault and assault, but he was sentenced to prison on several other charges involving violating conditions of release, violating protective orders and tampering with a witness.
Linthicum said Taylor’s victim was a girlfriend who had acquired a protection order against him.
Taylor was sentenced to five years in prison, with all but one year suspended for the charge of tampering with a witness. He will be on probation for four years when he is released from prison. The incident happened in September 2002 in Presque Isle.
He also was sentenced to serve 30, 60 and 90 days in prison on three counts of violating conditions of release. He was sentenced to 60, 90 and 120 days on three charges of violating a protective order.
