Freeman lifts Brewer girls by Old Town Valley boys post tourney win

OLD TOWN – Amy Freeman led a list of four double-figure scorers with 25 points as the Brewer Witches defeated the Old Town Indians 75-57 in Class A schoolgirl basketball action Saturday.

Katie Quimby tossed in 14 points for Brewer while Kim Alberding and Jordan McLain contributed 10 each.

Katie Bergeron paced Old Town with 16 points. Hannah Marquis tallied 12 and Jenny Jones added 11.

At Houlton’s Millar Arena, Derek Demerchant knocked in three goals and Trevor Graves two as the Wildcats rolled.

Ben Sirois, Taylor Hovey, Benji Lynch and Ted Gagnon notched a goal each for 9-8 Presque Isle. Sean Daigle had 25 saves on 26 shots.

Derek McGillicuddy scored the goal for the 2-15 Minutemen of Millinocket. Jay Kim stopped 30 of 39 shots.

At Sawyer Arena in Bangor, Mike Freeze, Adam Conway, and Derek Smith netted two goals and contributed one assist each for the Ponies.

Bill Moriarty and Logan Forest scored one each. Moriarty, Dustin Colbry, Joe Capparrelli, Brad Bellemare and Dan Rosebush added assists. John Catell and Cam Perkins combined for 24 saves on 25 shots for 7-11 Foxcroft Academy.

Nate Cates scored Old Town’s goal on an assist from Chris St. Louis. J.P. Stowe made 48 saves on 56 shots for the 0-17 Indians.

Hampden 2, Houlton/Hodgdon 0

At T.J. Ryan Arena in Brewer, Kyle Sparacio scored the first goal for the Broncos off an assist from Ian Lee.

Mike Brown added an empty-net goal for 10-10 Hampden Academy. Rory Woods had a shutout with 23 saves.

For 11-7 Houlton/Hodgdon, Nick Joslyn saved 28 of 29 shots he faced.
