Reeds Brook Middle School

HAMPDEN – Sarah Cayia, 14, of Hampden received a Prudential Spirit of Community award recently. Cayia, an eighth-grader at Reeds Brook Middle School, created Boxes for Bosnia, a schoolwide campaign that collected 10 large boxes full of supplies for Bosnian schoolchildren.

While Cayia’s father was stationed in Bosnia with the National Guard, he wrote letters describing the poor, war-ravaged school his unit was trying to help. Cayia was inspired to help and was honored for her efforts to organize in the school-supply drive.

Colleges

Bentley College

WALTHAM, Mass. – Jonathan Dearborn of Holden was named to Bentley College’s president’s list for extraordinary academic achievement in the fall semester.

Named to Bentley College’s dean’s list for outstanding academic achievement were Elissa Bosley, Bangor; Michael Desmarais, Hampden; and Jonathan Greene, Hampden.

Bridgewater College

BRIDGEWATER, Va. – Francis Waldron was named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at Bridgewater College.

Bucknell University

LEWISBURG, Penn. – Kevin Turner was named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at Bucknell University. A 2000 graduate of Bangor High School, he is the son of Jim and Mary Turner of Bangor.

Clark University

WORCESTER, Mass. – Alexandra Kelly of Bangor was named to second honors on the Clark University dean’s list to mark outstanding academic achievement during the fall 2003 semester.

Kelly is a graduate of John Bapst Memorial High School.

Clarkson University

POTSDAM, N.Y. – David Cassidy, son of Daniel Cassidy of Bangor, was named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at Clarkson University.

College of the Holy Cross

WORCESTER, Mass. – Samantha Kingsbury was named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at College of the Holy Cross. She is the daughter of Lisa and Douglas Kingsbury or Hampden.

Maine Maritime Academy

CASTINE – The following students were named to the dean’s list at Maine Maritime Academy for outstanding academic achievement in the first semester of the 2003-04 academic year:

. Bangor: Vance Gray and Allison Tunick.

. Brewer: Matthew Parker.

. Carmel: Ryan Melissa Foss.

. Eddington: Richard Collenburg Jr.

. Hampden: Tristan Grover and Ronald Porter.

. Holden: Amanda Johnson and Dwayne Judkins.

. Orrington: Douglas Russell.

University of Maine

ORONO – Jacob Ouellette was named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at the University of Maine. A 2003 Brewer High School graduate, he is the son of Debora and Gerard Ouellette of Brewer.

U.S. Military Academy

WEST POINT, N.Y. -Cadet Conrad Brown of Dedham was named to the dean’s list and received the Silver Star for excellence in the academic program at the U.S. Military Academy. Brown, the son of Christopher and Gail Brown of Dedham, is a 2002 graduate of John Bapst Memorial High School.
