The Cony of Augusta girls and Oxford Hills of South Paris boys earned the No. 1 seeds in the final Eastern Maine Class A girls and boys basketball standings released by the Maine Principals’ Association Friday.
Cony and the No. 2 Skowhegan girls along with Oxford Hills and the No. 2 Brunswick boys earned byes through next week’s prelim rounds and will play quarterfinal games next Saturday at the Bangor Auditorium.
The girls prelim round scheduled for Tuesday will be: No. 9 Mt. Blue (12-6) at No. 8 Gardiner (13-5); No. 13 John Bapst (6-12) at No. 4 Hampden Academy (15-3); No. 12 Lawrence (8-10) at No. 5 Mount Ararat (14-4) in Topsham; No. 14 Old Town (4-14) at No. 3 Lewiston (15-3); No. 11 Brunswick (8-10) at No. 6 Bangor (14-4); and No. 10 Nokomis (9-9) at No. 7 Messalonskee (13-5) in Oakland.
The boys prelim round set for Wednesday will be: No. 9 John Bapst (7-11) at No. 8 Lawrence (12-6) in Fairfield; No. 13 Morse (9-9) at No. 4 Bangor (13-5); No. 12 Mount Ararat (11-7) at No. 5 Old Town (12-6); No. 14 Waterville (4-14) at No. 3 Messalonskee (14-4); No. 11 Hampden Academy (8-10) at No. 6 Cony (13-5); and No. 10 Mt. Blue (12-6) at No. 7 Brewer (12-6).
The winners advance to quarterfinal games on either Friday or Saturday.
The Cheverus of Portland boys and McAuley of Portland girls gained the top seeds in Western Maine Class A.

Gorham 72, Lake Region 60 (OT)
At Augusta, Ben Thayer and Kurt Randall scored six points each in overtime as the No. 3 Rams downed the No. 4 Lakers for the WM Class B title.
Thayer and Randall finished with 21 points apiece, and Justin Brown added 18.
Jonathon Marstaller posted a game-high 23 points for Lake Region of Bridgton, and Andrew Beal and Jonathon Gilson contributed 14 each.

At the Augusta Civic Center, Kelly Daigle led No. 1 Greely with 13 points the help lead them past No. 3 Gorham to claim the Western Maine Class B Championship.
Michelle Robb and Abby Marstaller each added 12 points for Greely of Cumberland Center.
Laura Popovus netted 14 points for Gorham and Eileen Jenkins added 12.
