BOSTON – The University at Albany men and Northeastern University women repeated as America East conference champions Saturday at the Boston University Track and Tennis Center. The UMaine women finished fourth while the men wound up in seventh place.

The Northeastern women scored 179 points to outdistance runner-up Albany (128) and third-place New Hampshire (109). Maine scored 93 points.

Albany’s men put up 140.5 points to get by second-place Northeastern (128.5) and the University of Maryland Baltimore County (117.5). Maine scored 84.5 points.

Senior Claire Poliquin won the women’s high jump with a height of 5 feet, 8 inches and Maine’s 4×800 relay team finished first with a time of nine minutes, 9.88 seconds.

Sophomore Stephanie McCusker finished second in the long jump and third in the triple jump. Senior Katie Page of Palmyra was fourth in the shot put and sophomore Shira Panellis was fourth in pole vault. Junior Heather Jovanelli ran the mile and finished fourth. In the 1000-meter run, sophomore Kristen Vidlak was fourth and senior Janeen Shepard was fifth.

Sophomore Amanda Virgets was fifth in the 500. Katie Souviney of East Vassalboro was fifth in the pentathlon and freshman Erin Hatch of Saco was fifth in the high jump. Maine’s 4×400 relay team finished fourth.

In the men’s meet, UMaine’s Edward Caron of Auburn was second in the mile, while Portland freshmen Donald Drake and Sean Steinhagen were second in the 800 and 1000 runs, respectively. Junior Mike Lansing of Lovell was second in the 3000. Sophomore Troy Irvine of Waterville was third in the pole vault and junior Tony Morgan of South Berwick was third in the weight throw.
