BREWER – The Mt. Blue Cougars of Farmington scored the last 12 points of the first half to pull away from Brewer for a 58-45 preliminary playoff basketball win Wednesday.

Brian Wells and Ted Neal led No. 10 Mt. Blue of Farmington with 22 points apiece.

Chris Wilson led all scorers with 24 for No. 7 Brewer.

At Fairfield, Trevor Woods had 19 points to go with 12 rebounds and Lawrence’s defense did the rest against John Bapst of Bangor as Woods’ Bulldogs advanced to the quarterfinals.

This is Lawrence’s 19th trip to the Eastern Maine quarterfinals in the last 20 years. The only time the ‘Dogs missed in that span was 1997.

Nate Lambert chipped in with 17 points for the No. 8 Bulldogs while Jon Kelley had seven assists and five steals in the game.

Dan Myerowitz led the Crusaders with 13 points.

At Old Town, Tyler Bode poured in 26 points, including 10 free throws, as the Topsham-based Eagles went 15 for 20 from the line in the fourth quarter to pull the upset.

Andy Cantrell and Todd Strong chipped in with 12 points each for No. 12 Mount Ararat.

Mike Thurston nailed five 3-pointers on his way to 19 points for the No. 5 Indians. Matt Petrie notched 18 and Corey Miller 10.

Cony’s pressing defense helped force 24 Hampden turnovers.

Tyler Hunt had 17 points, Adam Vachon dished out seven assists, and Craig Cameron made six steals for the Rams.

Jordan Cook led the Broncos with 17 points.
