ORNEVILLE – Police are investigating a break-in and vandalism at a seasonal home on Route 16 reported to the Piscataquis County Sheriff’s Department on Feb. 21.
It appeared that the vandals shimmied up a porch to the second floor to gain entry to the building, which was unoccupied, according to Lt. Robert Young of the sheriff’s department.
Once inside, the vandals smashed lamps, broke windows and glass objects and discharged a fire extinguisher. They also opened food products and scattered the contents throughout the home.
Young said the vandals attempted to steal an all-terrain vehicle in the garage.
The officer said his department was working with the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Department because that department has had similar break-ins in the region.
