WINSLOW – John Tuell scored a goal in each period Saturday to lead the top-ranked Orono Red Riots to a 5-1 Class B semifinal hockey victory over the No. 5 Presque Isle Wildcats at Sukee Arena.

Orono advanced to Wednesday’s 7 p.m. final against No. 3 Gardiner at Alfond Arena in Orono.

Chris McConnon and Tony Raymond added a goal each for the winners. McConnon, Tuell, Raymond and Tommy Smyth all had two assists apiece. Keith Hedrick made 31 saves on 32 shots for 16-3 Orono.

Erik St. Peter scored off an assist from Ben Sirois for the Wildcats. Sean Daigle and Brian Fowler combined to face 30 shots and saved 25 for 11-9 Presque Isle.

Third-seeded Gardiner advanced by defeating the second-ranked Winslow Black Raiders 2-1. Gardiner is now 15-5-1 and Winslow finished at 13-7-2.
