Army Pvt. Jaymes Arel has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C. He is the son of Irma Escobar of Winslow and Michael Arel of Bangor.

Army Pvt. Christopher Noble has graduated from the heavy-wheeled vehicle mechanic advanced individual training course at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C. A 2001 graduate of Nokomis Regional High School, he is the son of Rebecca and Charles Noble of Palmyra.

Air Force Airman Steven Zahakaylo has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. A 2003 graduate of Hampden Academy, he is the son of Diane Estes of Winterport and Steve Zahakaylo of Lake Villa, Ill.

Kermit Neal has been promoted to the rank of colonel in the U.S. Air Force. Neal is a deputy chief for the Command Center Division, Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha, Nebraska.

A 1976 graduate of Penobscot Valley High School, he is the son of Elizabeth Neal of Bangor and Dean Neal of New Gloucester.

Air National Guard Senior Airman Matthew Lambert has graduated from the Aircraft Electrical and Environmental Systems Apprentice Course at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas.

A 2002 graduate of Maine Central Institute, he is the son of Maureen and Ronald Lambert of Hartland.
