The National Soccer Coaches Association of America has announced that the 2002 Hampden Academy girls soccer team has been recognized as a recipient of the 2002 Team Academic Award. The team grade point average for the 2002-2003 academic year was 3.79, the 13th-highest of the high schools on a 4.0 scale. A total of 161 girls teams were recognized with Cape Elizabeth being the only other school from Maine.

The members of the 2002 team were Danielle Billings, Erin Campbell, Tyne Franchi, Meredith Holt, Emily O’Connell, Melissa O’Donnell, Emmy Russell, Gabby Schrage, Lauren Wood, Jessie Aylward, Grace Cushing, Jillian Beal, Brienne Boss, Samantha Burrill, Amy Dumont, Alyssa Forrest, Katie Lawler, Kim Stephenson, Becca Workman, Annaliese Lafayette, Lili Berube, and Jenna Shue.
