SHERBROOKE, Quebec – Kate Dickinson, a University of Maine-Farmington freshman, led the Maine Racewalkers to victory over the Quebec, Canada Provincial walkers with her 3,000-meter winning time of 15 minutes, 16.84 seconds here on Saturday night. She was followed by Mt. Blue of Farmington junior Carly Lochala (15:28.08).
Other Mainers turning in solid efforts were: Boothbay sophomore Lauren Forgues (16:08.76, fourth), Mt. Blue junior Jessie Smith (17:49.64, fifth) and Mt. Blue freshman Heather Cyr (18:40.18, seventh).
In the men’s race, UMF sophomore Adam Staier led the Maine contingent with his second-place finish in 24:04.46. Other Mainers were: UMF junior Daniel Pendergast (25:09.17, third), Leavitt High School of Turner senior Kyle Libby (25:11.24, fourth) and Hall-Dale High of Farmingdale sophomore Padric Gleason (26:56.40, fifth).
On Sunday, Lochola (7:17.92) beat Marilyn Desmarais (7:17.95) in the 1,500 meter racewalk, but was disqualified for loss of contact. Forgues was second in 8:25.33 and Cyr finished fifth in 9:07.77.
Gleason captured the men’s 1,500-meter racewalk in 7:11.72 while Forgues finished second at 8:35.54.
