KNOX – Residents attending this year’s annual town meeting will be asked to appropriate money for the replacement of water wells that were contaminated by road salt.

Town meeting will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 20, at the Old Municipal Building.

The town installed the wells last year, and the $70,000 price tag will be paid off over a two-year period. Town Clerk Marjorie Larrabee said the first $35,000 is due this year.

Other than the well appropriation, Larrabee said, municipal spending would be held to the same level as last year. The town’s overall budget will increase slightly because of its share of the SAD 3 budget and increases in the cost of county government.

“It should be a pretty quiet meeting,” said Larrabee. “The budget won’t be going up very much and we don’t have any other big items.”

Larrabee said that incumbent Selectmen Galen Larrabee, Ronald Price and Rusty Higgins will be running for re-election.
