AUGUSTA Young Mainers moved a step closer Tuesday to getting a qualified right to vote before their 18th birthday.

Without debate, the Senate decided to go along with the House and approve a bill, LD 640, allowing 17-year-olds to vote in Maine primary elections, provided they turn 18 in time for the general election.
