Schoodic Arts for All earns $22,500 grant

WINTER HARBOR – Schoodic Arts for All has been awarded a $22,500 grant from the C. F. Adams Charitable Trust. The Adams Trust and Schoodic Arts for All are continuing a partnership, beginning with a contribution in 2000 to help fund a year-round director’s position for the organization.

As Schoodic Arts for All has expanded, the Adams Trust has been involved in helping the organization increase its presence in the community. This year, the contribution will be used for Hammond Hall, staffing and benefits, and professional development for the director and board members.

This funding has allowed the creation of a new summer internship. University of Maine student and Washington County resident Shelby Howe was unanimously approved for this 11-week staff position by the Schoodic Arts for All board.

The funding has also enabled Schoodic Arts for All to hire a clerk to oversee construction and renovation projects at Hammond Hall, made possible by a matching challenge capital campaign. F. Eugene Dixon of Winter Harbor has challenged the community to raise $50,000 to be matched by him at the end of the campaign. The organization has almost reached its goal and hopes to begin work on the building soon.
