Peer counseling group applies for new status

BANGOR – Life Line Peer Support Volunteers Inc., a local Web-based, anonymous peer-to-peer counseling service, has applied for 501(c)(3) nonprofit status.

The organization offers peer counseling to those suffering from depression, as well as referrals to professionals, and immediate one-on-one crisis intervention. It uses a combination of message boards and chat rooms to provide its services, which are offered to the general public and specifically teenagers, Lesbian-Gay-Bisexual-Transgender youth and adults, and battered men and women.
