RUMFORD – Cape Elizabeth’s Kate Barton was the top American skier in Saturday’s Banknorth Eastern High School championships at Black Mountain. Barton was third in the 1-kilometer freestyle sprint, behind Russians Larisa Dyakova (first) and Evgenia Kurochkina. Maine’s 21/2-km mixed medley relay teams finished fourth and fifth overall.
