DELAND, Fla., Greg Creek hit a two-run double with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth inning Sunday as the University of Maine baseball team ended its southern trip with a come-from-behind victory over Iowa.
The Black Bears won 3-2 Sunday after the Hawkeyes took Saturday’s game 5-3.
In Saturday’s game, Nate Yoho had two singles and a double and knocked in two runs for the Hawkeyes.
Mark Reichley singled and doubled and scored a run for the Black Bears. Creek and Aaron Izaryk each had two singles.
Greg Norton was touched for nine hits and five earned runs in seven innings of work.
In Sunday’s game, Simon Williams singled twice for Maine and Ryan Quintal doubled. Creek also had a single to go along with his game-winning double.
Mike Best hit two singles and had an RBI for the Hawkeyes, and Jeff Gremley doubled and scored a run.
Freshman Steve Richard pitched seven innings of one-hit ball, striking out six and walking two, before Scott Robinson earned the win with two innings of three-hit, one-run relief.

At St. Petersburg, Fla., on Saturday, Josh Ferguson hit five singles, scored five runs, and drove in five and helped spark two rallies by Husson in the third and ninth innings. He also recorded the save on the mound.
Justin Spencer hit a pair of singles and had a double while scoring three times for the Braves. Aaron Brideau and Adam Sheehan each had two singles and scored twice.
Mike Godlewski had two doubles and a single and knocked in three runs for Skidmore, and Ted Whittemore hit three singles while driving in a run.
