ST. LEO, Fla. – Jason Folsom’s bases-loaded triple followed Aaron Brideau’s game-tying RBI double as the Husson College baseball team rallied for six runs in the seventh inning en route to a 7-2 victory and a sweep of Monday’s doubleheader with Defiance College (Ohio).

The Braves of Bangor won the first game 4-3.

In the second game, George Tripp’s double and Kyle Mathieu’s single delivered the final two runs of the seventh.

Freshman Chris Sargent struck out 10 and didn’t walk anybody while scattering seven hits.

Brideau had two singles to go with his double and Justin Spencer doubled and singled for Husson.

Lenny Koesters and Eric Tipton had two singles each for the Yellow Jackets.

In the opener, Spencer doubled home Henderson in the sixth to break a 3-3 tie. Henderson had been hit by a pitch.

Spencer had two singles to go with his double and Travis Tripp pitched six innings for the win. Josh Ferguson picked up the save.

Ryan Leininger and Richard Trick had two singles each for Defiance.

Husson sweeps Russell Sage

FORT PIERCE, Fla. – The Husson College Braves swept a doubleheader against Russell Sage College of Troy, N.Y., Sunday with a 6-4 win in the first game and a 6-5 decision in the second.

In the first game, the Braves scored all six runs in the bottom of the seventh to pull out a victory. Alicia Lagrange allowed four hits and one earned run in seven innings to notch the victory. Krystal Bosse, Stacey Wright and Deanna Maxim each had an RBI hit.

In the second game, the Braves rallied with two runs in the bottom of the eighth. Melissa Porter went the distance and scattered seven hits over eight innings while allowing two earned runs. Sara Agouab had two hits and scored twice. Jennifer Hodgkins drove in three runs.

Women’s Soccer

Husson women even out in Italy

The Husson College women’s soccer team concluded their trip to Italy with a 1-1-1 record and will return home Wednesday.

Husson defeated Firenze 3-0 in Florence Monday as Bea Deycaza scored two goals and Kristin Pelletier added the other. Leah Drew and Gabby Schrage teamed up for nine saves on 13 shots.

On Saturday, Agliana Stadio blanked Husson 7-0. Drew and Schrage combined to make 22 saves on 33 shots by the defending Italia SerieA League champs.
