NEWPORT – State Rep. Joshua Tardy, R-Newport, announced he will be seeking re-election to the Maine House of Representatives.

Tardy will be running in the newly drawn District 25, which includes a portion of Corinth, Exeter, Corinna, Newport and Plymouth.

During his first term, Tardy’s committee assignments have included the Taxation Committee and the Joint Select Committee on Regionalization and Community Cooperation.

Tardy also served as a Republican member of the Reapportionment Commission, the group charged with realigning district boundaries for congressional, legislative and county commissioner elections, and also served on the House Elections Committee.

In making his announcement Tardy said, “I am committed to promote spending reform and meaningful tax reform for the people of Maine. I believe we can make Maine business-friendly and education-friendly. My priorities are jobs and kids. It has been a pleasure to serve my constituents, and I would be honored to serve another term.”

He is a partner in the law firm of Irwin, Tardy & Morris, and is involved in several small-business ventures, including the newly opened Millennium Bridal and Convention Center in Palmyra.

He is a member of the Masons, Elks and Kiwanis, president of the Nokomis Alumni Association, and former chair of the SAD 48 board of directors. He and his wife, Mary Ellen, reside in Newport.
