‘B’ boys, ‘A’ girls win Big East All-Star games

BANGOR – Foxcroft Academy’s Brandon Hall scored 10 of his game-high 24 points in the decisive third quarter as the Big East Conference Class B senior all-stars pulled away to an 89-64 victory over their Class A counterparts at the Bangor Auditorium.

The Class B squad trailed 36-35 at halftime, but led by the 6-foot-8 Hall it outscored the Class A team 30-13 to take a 65-49 lead into the final period.

Joey Dewitt of Ellsworth added 13 points for the winners, while Jesse Keith of Hermon scored 11 points, and Wade Hopkins of Bucksport added 10.

Alex Means of John Bapst paced the “A” team with 19 points, while P.J. Dowe of Bangor scored 13.

At the Bangor Auditorium, Kristi Mitchell of Old Town scored 21 points and Johanna Ghiringhelli of Hampden Academy added 16 as the Big East Conference Class A senior all-stars edged the Class B stars.

The “A” team outscored the “B” squad 19-8 in the second quarter to take a 31-20 halftime lead.

Lindsey Burlock of Caribou paced the “B” all-stars with 14 points, while Melissa DeMerchant and Anna Delong of Presque Isle each added 13.
