CLEARWATER, Fla. – Senior righthander Barrett Dionne of Bangor allowed one earned run over six innings as the Husson College baseball team defeated Westfield (Mass.) State 7-4 Wednesday at Jack Russell Stadium.

Husson will play NAIA power Embry-Riddle University today in Daytona Beach.

Dionne struck out seven, walked two, and scattered six hits while improving his record to 2-0. Sophomore Chris McInnis worked the final three innings for the Braves.

Sophomore center-fielder Justin Spencer scored two runs and had two hits, including a two-run double in the top of the eighth inning that gave the Braves the insurance they needed after Westfield State had scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh to pull within 5-4.

Senior third baseman Josh Ferguson also had two hits for Husson, including an RBI double, while No. 9 hitter Adam Sheehan, a freshman shortstop from Bucksport, scored three runs and had two singles and a walk.

Nate Hall, a senior from Stockton Springs, took the pitching loss for the Owls.
