At Fort Pierce, Fla., Wednesday, Stacey Wright drove in two runs on two hits as the Braves earned a 7-4 victory. Husson lost to SUNY-New Paltz 7-5 Tuesday.

Sara Agouab notched an RBI hit for 3-5 Husson of Bangor.

USM splits twinbill

At Fort Myers, Fla., Katie Mainville pitched a two-hit shutout to give the University of Southern Maine a 5-0 victory over Framingham (Mass.) State and a split of the Huskies’ season-opening doubleheader.

In Thursday’s second game, Montclair (N.J.) State scored single runs in the eighth and ninth innings to edge USM 2-1.

Mainville did not walk a batter while striking out five, and held Framingham hitless after the third inning.

USM used RBI singles by Renee Heath and Darci Holland to take a 2-0 lead in the first inning.

Angela Cote and Kristen Tong each had two hits for the Huskies.

USM managed just three singles against Montclair State.
