Meagan Aarts, a senior forward from Watford, Ontario, and the University of Maine, was named to the 2004 women’s first team All-Hockey East squad.

Teammates Lara Smart, a senior goaltender, and Tristan Desmet, a junior forward, earned second-team honors, while defenseman Vicky Johnson earned honorable mention.

Maine forward Sonia Corriveau was named to the All-Rookie Team, and was runner-up to Sonny Watrous of Providence for rookie of the year honors.

Black Bears coach Rick Filighera was runner-up for the conference’s coach of the year award, which went to Joy Woog of Northeastern. Smart and Rebecca Paul of New Hampshire were runners-up to Chandra Gunn of Northeastern for the conference’s “Three Stars” Award.

Gunn shared HE player of the year honors with Carolyn Gordon of New Hampshire, while Karen Thatcher of Providence earned the league’s sportsmanship award.
