AUGUSTA – Nathaniel Bowditch, assistant director of the Maine Office of Tourism, has resigned his position according to an announcement made Monday by Dann H. Lewis, director of MOT.

“I regretfully accepted Nat’s resignation,” said Lewis. “He has been a key member of our team, especially with the development of the state’s tourism regions, niche marketing efforts and in special projects dealing with interagency cooperation.”

Bowditch served as assistant director, since joining MOT in 1988. During his tenure, his responsibilities have included working with local and regional organizations on tourism development initiatives such as cultural and heritage tourism and recreation/nature-based tourism.

In addition, Bowditch managed MOT’s contracts associated with fulfillment services including the state’s Visitor Information Centers and Maine’s travel planner.

“Not only will Nat be missed by all of us at the Office of Tourism, but by the entire tourism industry in Maine,” said Lewis. “I wish him the best in his future endeavors.”

Bowditch has plans for a new business venture, which he will announce in the near future.
