Police find body on Old Orchard Beach

OLD ORCHARD BEACH – The death of a woman whose nude body was found at this seaside resort town does not appear to be suspicious, investigators said Monday.

The Department of Public Safety said fresh information led to progress in identifying the woman, who was thought to be in her 20s or 30s.

“Detectives are working with the medical examiner’s office and with the woman’s family to establish a positive identification,” said Stephen McCausland, public safety spokesman.

An autopsy was performed Monday at the medical examiner’s office in Augusta, where a spokeswoman said a determination as to cause of death was pending.
