FARMINGTON – The Institute on Rural Poverty at the University of Maine at Farmington will hold two free public programs this month.

Judith Rawlings and Ernest Gurney will give the presentation, “Teen Homelessness and Hanging Out: Not a Complete Unknown, Still a Rolling Stone,” at 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 24, in the North Dining Hall. Rawlings and Gurney will lead a discussion about problems facing teenagers who find themselves in situations that can lead or have led to homelessness.

The second program, “Mitigating the Effects of Poverty on Adolescent Development: A Curriculum for Resilience,” will start at 6 p.m. Monday, March 29, in the North Dining Hall at the Olsen Student Center. The presenter is UMF alumna Elyse Pratt, a graduate degree candidate at Boston College.
